OLYMPICS fans are being charged £6.70 for less than a pint of beer - and it doesn't even contain alcohol.

The opening day of sport got underway today, with the Stade de France staging the rugby sevens.

And that gave ticket holders their first chance to catch the action at the Paris 2024 Games.

However, those hoping to enjoy a pint of regular beer will be left disappointed, because Paris 2024 are not selling alcoholic drinks at ANY of their venues.

That is because of a 1991 French law that bans the sale of alcohol in stadiums unless it is served with a meal - meaning only those splashing the cash to be in VIP hospitality can get on the booze while watching the Olympics live.

Instead, it is 500ml of 1664 0% - aka alcohol-free Kronenbourg - on offer for punters, costing 8€ (£6.72, $8.68).

Elsewhere, the most expensive food at the vendors outside the stadium is a cheeseburger at 11€ (£9.24, $11.94).

Hot dogs are 9.50€ (£7.98, $10.31), followed by chicken sandwiches and mozzarella ciabattas (8.50€, £7.14, $9.23) and egg muffins (8€, £6.72, $8.68).

French fans inside the Stade de France - and also at their men's football match in Saint-Etienne - booed the Argentine national anthem ahead of their respective matches.

That comes following Argentina star Enzo Fernandez's controversial "racist" video that was streamed on social media earlier this month - although it is unclear if that is the direct reason for the fans' reactions.

Chelsea midfielder Fernandez live-streamed a video of himself and his Argentina teammates singing a sick chant on Instagram following their Copa America success in Miami last week.

The vile chant appeared to take aim at the French national team and dates back to the 2022 World Cup, when Argentina beat France in the final on penalties.
