In her Reddit post, user Random_throwaway08 revealed that her last haircut was in June of 2022.

The before picture showed her black locks reaching just below her collarbone.

She then spent two years growing out her hair, though she explained that she wasn't intentionally doing so.

"Funny thing is that I wasn’t actually trying to grow out my hair, I just wanted to save money on haircuts," she explained.

In her progress pictures, the poster's long black hair now reached her waist.

"I could definitely use a cut though, but just wanted to share pictures before I go short again," she said.

According to the Reddit user, she didn't implement an extensive haircare routine.

"My hair is pretty low maintenance, I just use the Paul Mitchell tea tree shampoo," she said.

"I think tea tree oil helps with hair growth, or at least keeping your scalp healthy."

Why does tea tree oil help your hair grow?

The National Library of Medicine published a study investigating the effectiveness of different ingredients in hair growth.

Examing the use of the substances on test subjects with alopecia, the experts found that the solution with "minoxidil, diclofenac, and tea tree oil was significantly superior to minoxidil alone."

Minoxidil is often regarded as the main stimulant for hair growth but according to the study, it is most effective when used alongside tea tree oil.
