A WOMAN sleeps in a jaw strap, eye patches and tapes her mouth shut so she can "age gracefully".
Mayte Myers, 27, decided to enhance her skincare and night time routine as she felt the need to achieve "consistent results" to reduce her "deep crow's feet" without resorting to cosmetic surgery.
She applies her skincare before putting on eye patches, a hair bonnet, a jaw strap and mouth tape before bed.
Mayte says trolls say 'who would want to go to bed with her looking like that?’ but she feels the routine has helped her skin feel brighter.
Mayte, a content creator, from Dallas, Texas, US said: “People have commented blaming me for setting high beauty standards for pushing what is necessary to do to meet those standards.”
“I’ve also had people saying I’m doing it for the male gaze, and then others saying ‘Oh but who would want to go to bed with her looking like that?’”

“My husband Dakota did laugh at first but now calls me the 'de-shedding queen'. I’ve even tried a forehead patch and mouth tape on him.
“It does look weird, but it's breathable, comfortable, and encourages you to keep your mouth shut when you’re asleep.
I know ageing is natural but I want to do it as gracefully as I can
Mayte Myers
"I feel way more confident in my skin since doing it. It's my twenty minutes of pampering at night and a nice thing to look forward to.
"I also find the routine really comforting, like a weighted blanket for my face."

Mayte says she used to experience disrupted sleep but has been sleeping better since implementing her routine, and feels she "can perform anything after sleeping well".
She discovered under-eye and forehead patches in a skincare subscription box in February 2023, which she began using "every now and then."
Despite observing some initial changes, she says that they were short-lived.
Mayte said: "I saw some results, but they didn't last, so knew I had to do more."
She started doing her full routine in June 2024 and sleeps in the strap and tape three nights a week.
She said: “I have pretty deep crows feet, and I was worried about having a double chin before my wedding in June.
"The jaw strap has been like a waist trainer for my face.
How to reverse ageing in just 2 weeks, according to royal go-to nutritionist
LONDON -based Gabriela Peacock, who has helped the likes of Prince Harry and Princess Eugenie prepare for their weddings.
She told Fabulous: “The science is evident that we all have the power to make simple life changing alterations to better our future selves - no matter what genetic hand we might have been dealt with.
“The reality is, we all sometimes indulge in unhealthy eating habits like processed foods, smoking cigarettes, drinking too much alcohol, inhaling city pollutants, and even drinking water from plastic bottles – none of this is good for us.
“All this does is promote the ageing process, but we all have the potential to change this.”
It may be hard, but try to keep away from sugary carbohydrates, because they feed chronic inflammation, which is one of the worst enemies of reversing ageing.
Now only will you end up putting on weight if you consume them regularly, but your energy and hormonal levels will be affected and this will influence how you look and feel.
Whatever your age or state of health, it’s never too late to reverse how quickly you are ageing and embrace the energy and vigour of a younger you.
Antioxidants, such as vitamins A, C, and E, are essential in neutralising free radicals—the culprits behind premature ageing.
Integrating a spectrum of colourful fruits and vegetables into your diet provides a potent source of antioxidants.
Omega-3 fatty acids, abundant in fatty fish like salmon and flaxseeds, are vital for maintaining skin elasticity and hydration.
Omega-3s act as nourishment for your skin, locking in moisture and diminishing fine lines and wrinkles.
Collagen, a structural protein dwindling with age, can be replenished through collagen-rich foods like bone broth and lean protein sources.
“I know ageing is natural but I want to do it as gracefully as I can.”
Mayte shared her morning shed routine on TikTok - where she filmed herself 'shedding' the treatments she slept in.
She said: “First I do my skincare, wait for it to sink in and brush my teeth. Then I put on under-eye patches, a hair bonnet, a jaw strap, and lastly mouth tape.
“I’m a mouth breather and I kept waking up with a dry tongue before using mouth tape."
Mayte wants to “show people the results over time”, and the realistic side of using skincare for ageing - by showing wrinkles in her videos and how she treats them.
She says she was “acne prone and had acne in school” but since doing the 'morning shed' routine she has noticed a big difference in her skin.
She said: “My skin looks a lot brighter and my wrinkles aren’t as noticeable.
“I uploaded a before and after photo of the results from using the jaw strap, you can really see the difference.
“I make sure to put disclaimers on my videos because this is my skin’s reaction, and everyone’s skin is different.”
