AN EastEnders character met a tragic end - although viewers were focused on one aspect of the scene.
Debbie Colwell (played by Jenny Meier) made her debut in the BBC soap over a year ago in May 2023.
Despite appearing in multiple episodes, actress Jenny hasn't uttered a single line due to Debbie's comatose state.
Debbie is the wife of Reiss Colwell (Jonny Freeman), who was introduced in 2022 as the great-nephew of Dot Cotton (June Brown).
Although Reiss initially didn't tell new partner Sonia Fowler (Natalie Cassidy) about Debbie, she later learned the truth.
While still in a coma, Debbie has had an important role in recent storylines, with Reiss having stolen her money to fund Sonia's IVF treatment.

It comes at a time where the accountant has found himself submerged in debt.
With Sonia now pregnant, he has become obsessed with funding both their lives and Debbie’s care.
Reiss managed to successfully scam Sharon Watts of £13k to pay Debbie’s backdated care home fees with a fake investment offer - but Phil Mitchell saw through the plan.
In tragic scenes, viewers saw Reiss smother Debbie to death.

Despite the sad moment playing out, viewers at home were more concerned about Debbie's physical appearance.
