DO you pee standing up or sitting down?

Please excuse the personal question but I thought I’d ask since apparently this is how we decide things now — including who should be the next leader of the free world.

Yes, I know it’s crazy but for the diversity-obsessed Left, whether in the US or the UK, the contents of political candidates’ underpants isn’t just ONE of the things that matters, it’s the ONLY thing that matters.

Within minutes of Joe Biden conceding on Sunday that he wasn’t up to fighting for a second term in the White House, the progressive drums were beating loudly for his Vice President Kamala Harris to win the Democratic nomination and go up against the Republicans’ Donald Trump for the top job.

Was it because Kamala is such an impressive politician, a Veep with a strong track record in office, a proven campaigner and popular with the American people? Well, no, because she is none of those things.

What she is, though, is a woman. And a woman of colour, to boot. You get bonus points for that.

Those were the qualities that won her the job as Biden’s running mate in 2020 and those are the very same qualities that meant the Democrat Party had no choice but to select her as his successor this time round.

It doesn’t matter what Kamala has said or done, it just matters that she could be the first woman President.

It’s enough to make you scream with frustration.

For how many years have we had to listen to the non-stop hailing of “first woman this” and “first woman that”?

Sure, first woman Prime Minister is absolutely a newsworthy achievement — not that Margaret Thatcher thought her sex was remotely relevant to her job.

When Terry Wogan asked her about her Cabinet not making “any concession to the fact that you’re a woman”, she famously replied: “No. Why should they? I don’t make any concession to the fact that they’re men.”

Kamala Harris shares first ad for her Presidential campaign, featuring Beyoncé’s ‘Freedom.’

We’ve had THREE female PMs in this country and there have been many women elected leaders around the world — Germany, Italy, India, New Zealand to name but a few.

So can we all get over it now and move on?

Sod all to do with it

Yet Labour and much of the British media have even made a huge fuss of Rachel Reeves being the first woman Chancellor — ooh, fancy that, a woman who can do maths! Will wonders never cease?

Even the new Welsh First Minister (no, I haven’t a clue who she is either) has been celebrated as the first woman to lead the nation.

It feels like it’s never going to stop until we get all the way down to the first one-legged ginger woman in charge of paper clips at Swindon City Council.

How many times can I say this? WE DON’T CARE!

There are good leaders and bad leaders. It’s got sod all to do with their X or Y chromosomes.

The Left used to care about meritocracy but their obsession with identity politics is the enemy of meritocracy.

It’s tiresome, it’s boring and — most importantly — it’s irrelevant.

We just want the best person for the job.

We’re told women need a helping hand up the job ladder but Giorgia Meloni won power in Italy without ever playing the woman card, and Marine Le Pen could win the French presidency without bleating on about being the first female leader in the Elysee Palace.

Most US voters couldn’t care less about Kamala Harris’s gender or the colour of her skin because they should be irrelevant.

After all, they didn’t seem to care that Donald Trump was bright orange when he won in 2016!

They DO care about the stuff that actually matters — what she says and does.

The truth is that, as Trump has already pointed out, Kamala is the wokest of the woke, who believes in every new political fad, from trans ideology to Black Lives Matter and Defund The Police to Net Zero climate hysteria.

Her track record as VP is embarrassingly poor on key issues such as border control, while her word salads are as bad as Joe Biden’s but without his excuse of old age.

So, sorry, Kamala and your legions of “progressive” fans, I’m afraid the possession of two X chromosomes isn’t a good enough reason to put an X in the Democrat box on election day.

Simply being a woman and wanting to be the first female US President just aren’t relevant qualifications for winning the most important job in the world.

The Tories must cut to the chase

THE Tory leadership race has kicked off with the “Magnificent Seven” set to throw their hats into the ring for the top job.

So far three have formally joined the race – James Cleverly, Tom Tugendhat and Robert Jenrick.

Already candidates have talked about the need for “unity” as the key to winning back votes.

But they are wrong.

Voters don’t care IF a party is unified, we care about WHAT a party is unified about.

There’s no point being united if it’s about the wrong things.

The would-be Tory leaders need to tell us what the party believes in, what their values are and what they want to DO if they get back into power.

And right now, I’m not sure many Tory MPs can do that.

In a nutshell, the key question they need to ask themselves is this:

What is the POINT of the Conservative Party?

Because unless or until the Tories can answer that question, then the answer from the electorate will continue to be a big fat “No”.

Keir pummels protest

SIR KEIR STARMER has already faced down his first rebellion from leftie Labour MPs calling on him to scrap the two-child benefits cap.

The seven rebels insist the quickest way to tackle child poverty is to end the limit on the policy, which can pay out an extra £3,455 a year to families on Universal Credit for each of their first two children but not a penny for the third, fourth or fifth etc.

The rebel MPs are, of course, wrong.

Actually, the quickest way to tackle child poverty is far simpler (and much cheaper for the hard- working taxpayer).

Parents should stop having kids they can’t afford.

And, failing that, parents who can’t manage to pay for their large families on their benefits should go out and get a job, or work longer hours to put more money in their pocket.

It’s what everyone else with any self-respect would do to put food on the table for their kids.
