⭐ My list of the best football betting sites from our partners

🔎 A closer look at my 10 favourite football platforms

There are plenty of great betting sites above to choose from. But to help you more, below I cover my 10 favourite football betting sites in more detail. I look at when they were established, their payment methods, and if they have a mobile app.

I’ll also tell you what it's like to use each of the football betting sites. And not just what it’s like to gamble with them. One of the things that annoys me the most is a football bookmaker that is difficult to sign up and deposit with. If they can’t get that right, then how can they be relied on to get more complicated things correct? So I will also cover what the signup processes were like when I joined each site.

1. Spreadex 🥇

  • Year established: 1999
  • No. of sports: 20+
  • Payment methods: 5+
  • Mobile app: Yes
  • Customer support: Phone and live chat support during business hours, along with 24-hour email support

Spreadex only recently added fixed odds to its spread betting platform. As a result, they’ve pushed the boat out to promote their fixed odds, offering a great sign-up bonus along with daily price boosts.

When it comes to football betting, Spreadex excels. They have numerous markets and up-to-date comprehensive statistics available to check out if you like placing individual player bets. I like placing Bet Builders. And these statistics are great for helping me choose who gets booked often, or how many goals a player has scored in what competition this season.

11

Spreadex also has plenty of live streaming and adequate - if not extensive - deposit methods. Signing up was a smooth experience. I found it to be a great football betting site and it is my number-one pick.

2. BetUK 🥈

  • Year Established: 2018
  • No. of sports: 3+
  • Payment methods: 5+
  • Mobile app: Yes
  • Customer support: Help centre that answers questions, along with live chat and email support. Not 24 hour

BetUK became part of the LeoVegas mobile gaming group in 2018. Back then, it wasn’t much of a product. But over the past few years, BetUK has grown into one of the more popular football betting websites in the UK.

The site now offers an extensive range of football events and has also recently introduced great promotions such as regular Boosted Odds to go alongside their existing and popular Acca-Fenwa and Bet Builder offers.

11

There is room for improvement there. But if football is your thing. you will be fine with this football bookmaker. I found the sign-up process was simple and their payment methods suit UK players.

3. Sporting Index 🥉

  • Year Established: 1992
  • No. of sports: 20+
  • Payment methods: 5+
  • Mobile app: Yes
  • Customer support: Live chat, live phone support, and email are all available. Not 24 hours though

Sporting Index has long been regarded as the best-spread betting platform for football. Like Spreadex (who acquired the company in 2023), Sporting Index also now offers competitive fixed odds betting, allowing players to switch seamlessly between the two betting platforms.

11

Sporting Index has also invested heavily in its fixed odds platform and offers excellent promotions. This is headlined by their 75% acca boost, which is ideal for football betting.

I did notice the platform has become very similar to betting with Spreadex. The platforms are now basically identical. But that's no bad thing, as it makes the website easy to use.

4. BetMGM

  • Year Established: 2018
  • No. of sports: 30+
  • Payment methods: 10+
  • Mobile app: Yes
  • Customer support: Live chat is available in the UK, along with a help centre. Not 24 hours

BetMGM are casino experts finding their way in the world of sports betting. As a result, they are offering one of the best value sign-up offers of up to £40 in free bets.

11

The brand is on a publicity splurge, and as a result, they are offering plenty of sports betting promotions. Their football betting coverage is top quality, with plenty of matches and markets to choose from. Moreover, their attention to detail extends to providing comprehensive coverage of leagues like the Premier League, where fans can easily track their favorite teams' positions on the Premier League table while placing their bets.

For a new start sports betting brand, I was very impressed with the amount of sports available to bet on. There is also plenty of variation in their accepted payment methods, and the sign-up process was easy.

5. Planet Sport Bet

  • Year Established: 2023
  • No. of sports: 25+
  • Payment methods: 5+
  • Mobile app: Yes
  • Customer support: Email only

Planet Sport has been an online publishing brand since 1997. They branched out into the world of sports betting in 2023, after deciding they could do it themselves after working with various sports betting brands over the years.

11

They have limited deposit methods, but as an extremely new football betting site, I would expect that to expand over the coming months and years. Already, they have a vast number of sports to bet on, with football being at the forefront of their betting platform.

Despite the limited payment methods, I didn’t find signing up and depositing money any problem. They have all the popular methods that UK players use.

6. kwiff

  • Year Established: 2015
  • No. of sports: 18+
  • Payment methods: 4+
  • Mobile app: Yes
  • Customer support: Live chat and Email. Not 24 hours

This football bookmaker is unlucky to be down at No.6 on my list. I first heard of kwiff when they advertised heavily during the 2021/22 Ashes, but I’ve barely seen an advert since. They don’t rely on endless advertising campaigns and big-name celebrities, they just rely on good service and competitive odds.

11

Along with one of the best welcome offers, kwiff also regularly gives you the chance to get one of your bets kwiffed. This is when you place a bet, and they super boost the odds afterwards. It’s almost like you’ve had a winner already.

I did find they are purely an online brand. There is very limited customer support. But their live chat answered all my questions efficiently when I contacted them ahead of writing this review.

7. Betfred

  • Year Established: 1967
  • No. of sports: 20+
  • Payment methods: 10+
  • Mobile app: Yes
  • Customer support: Live chat, phone support and email. Not 24 hours

Betfred is one of the more established football bookmakers in the UK. Based in the northwest of the country, one of the founding brothers, Fred Done, is a well-known Manchester United fan who famously paid out early on United winning the title in 1998. Back in the day, this wasn't the done thing. And it backfired, as Fergie’s team blew their lead and lost the title to Arsenal.

11

These days the company is more measured. But they still haven’t strayed too far away from their footballing roots, with the majority of their better betting offers based around the beautiful game.

They don’t offer you too much outside of the norm when it comes to offers, customer services, etc. They are a streamlined service after all. But this is what I find I get from all the household name reputable football bookmakers. They make it a seamless process to sign up and deposit money. Because they know that’s what their players want. Betfred are no different.

8. BoyleSports

  • Year Established: 1982
  • No. of sports: 40+
  • Payment methods: 7+
  • Mobile app: Yes
  • Customer support: Phone support, email, and 24-hour live chat

BoyleSports is a reliable football bookmaker that has been around for years. Like with a lot of the established football betting sites, BoyleSports is similar, in that they don’t push the boat out to give you better odds, and their regular promotions are just on a similar level to the majority of the establishment.

11

I always believe these football betting sites choose to trade on their reputation, rather than trying to grab your attention with an eye-catching offer. So, if you’re after a solid football bookmaker who offers all the basics, then BoyleSports will give you that.

But one area I did discover they stand out is in their customer service. With 24-hour live chat, I found it to be one of the best.

9. Copybet

  • Year Established: 2016
  • No. of sports: 15+
  • Payment methods: 7+
  • Mobile app: Yes
  • Customer support: Extensive FAQ, social media presence and email. Not 24 hours

Copybet is a new player in the UK football betting industry, and like most newbies, they are bringing fresh and unique ideas to the table to help promote their brand. The company sponsors QPR, and all jokes aside, this shows they are committed to football betting.

11

One of their fresh ideas I love is you can copy their most successful tipsters (the clues in the name). The opportunity is also there to become a pro tipster yourself if you are any good. Their customer service options are currently poor. But as a relatively new player in the market, I expect them to improve in that department.

10. Parimatch

  • Year Established: 1994
  • No. of sports: 30+
  • Payment methods: 5+
  • Mobile app: Yes
  • Customer support: Live chat 24/7, SMS and email. Also available on social media channels

Parimatch originally started as a European brand but has worked hard to establish itself in the UK market in recent years. The football betting side of the bookmaker has steadily improved and they now offer an acca bonus on English football, and they have also recently introduced their new Hat-Trick Hunt promotion for existing customers.

11

There’s no phone option in their customer support. But there are great options for live chat and they are also available on social media. Along with a decent welcome bonus, Parimatch offers markets on a wide range of matches from across the globe, making them a solid bookmaker to use for betting on football.

I also found that they are strong in sports outside of football betting. They have over 30 sports available to bet on, and despite not being a UK-specific operator, they have all the main payment methods a UK bettor needs. Signing up and depositing was a seamless experience. All-in-all, I was very impressed with the site and app.

📋 How I rank my top UK football betting sites

When I choose what I believe are the best football betting sites I consider various factors. Priority goes to safety and security, but when I’m happy with that, I look at various other things that I cover in more detail below.

🏟️ Range of football games and leagues

Not everybody always wants to bet on the Premier League, so finding a football bookmaker that offers anything from the English lower leagues to the Besta Deild Karla in Iceland is vital. Yes, the most popular leagues for betting are the Premier League, Bundesliga and La Liga. But sometimes better value bets can be found in more obscure leagues. The bookmakers who specialise in football betting, tend to offer a wider variation of matches and leagues to bet on.

🥅 Best football odds

Finding the best football betting odds is crucial. You wouldn’t pay £500 for a sofa if it is £400 in the shop next door, so why take 6/5 with one football bookmaker when you get 7/5 somewhere else? It pays to shop around in life, and it’s the same when betting on football. Also, don’t forget about enhanced odds. I’ve found they can turn an average bet into a good value one.

⚽ Live betting options

Sometimes when you are sitting there watching a game you get a feel for how the match is going. When this happens, you want to find a football bookmaker that not only offers live betting, but plenty of live betting markets. I’ve found that I sometimes get a feel for plenty of goals, or plenty of cards. as opposed to a team winning. So using a football bookmaker that has a wide range of live in-play betting markets is essential.

💸 Cashing out during a match

Following on from betting in-play, being able to cash out during a match is also a must-have from our recommended betting sites. If your team is winning 1-0, and they look like they might be about to concede a late equaliser, you want to be able to cash out. I’ve found some football betting sites disable this feature towards the end of a match which is extremely frustrating. Finding a football bookmaker that doesn’t is a must.

💰 Bonuses and promotions

All football bookies offer some sort of bonus or promotion. If they don’t, they may be worth avoiding. But when it comes to the best football betting sites, we expect them to offer us bonuses and promotions on the beautiful game. There are plenty of football bookmakers now who offer to pay your bet as a winner if your team goes two goals clear, or who are also prepared to pay your bet as a winner if your team (or bet) is winning when the clock hits 90 minutes.

📱 Mobile app

Does the football bookmaker have a mobile betting app? And if yes, how good is it? We all want to use a mobile app that isn’t hard work. Some operators go above and beyond to make the user experience as good as it can be. Those football bookmakers are the ones that have the easiest app to use. If it takes you 10 minutes to get to your bet, then the app isn’t worth it. We look for apps that make it easy for you to find and place your football bets.

🤝 Reputation and trustworthiness

With football betting now so popular, a lot of new names are coming into the online marketplace. No need to reveal my age, but when I was a lot younger, there were only a few household names you could bet with. And you had to walk to them, as there were no mobile phones. Does anybody else remember those days?

Anyway, now with sportsbooks starting up - what seems like - every five minutes, you need to find one that has a good reputation and is trustworthy with your cash.

But trust is built over time. And it’s easy to get swept along by a swanky new betting site offering a great welcome bonus, especially when the older established sites aren’t as competitive as start-ups, who are looking to attract customers. So to avoid getting caught out, I read reviews before I use a new football bookmaker. That way, if there are any trust issues, I pick them up early.

📞 Customer support

Having top-quality customer support is crucial. The more channels of customer support that are available the better. I’ve found live chat is the best way to get a problem resolved. But sadly, it is not available 24/7 across the board. At the very least a platform should have phone customer support or online live chat available across business hours of its target countries. And if you are betting on football, you will need this support to be available until around 10 pm seven days a week to cover any problems with night games.

🏆 Most popular football competitions to bet on in the UK

Football is one of the most popular sports in the UK and across the globe. Fans want to bet on it, and it’s not just on live matches or particular leagues they want to bet on. International competitions like the World Cup and the European Championships are huge. And so are the following competitions.

Premier League

As the Premier League is so successful, it has the money to attract the best players in the world. This makes it one of the most popular leagues to follow, with the likes of Manchester City, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United playing 38 matches across the season, to try and win the sought-after Premier League trophy.

Liverpool and Manchester United are historically the most successful teams in the English top flight. But Manchester City are the current top dog and the team to beat.

La Liga

La Liga in Spain is also one of the most popular leagues in Europe and across the world. The Spanish top division is home to two of the most famous household names in world football, Real Madrid and Barcelona.

Plenty will compare La Liga to the Premier League, and with the Spanish sides having plenty of success in Europe, it’s a healthy debate about which is the strongest quality league. England’s Jude Bellingham is currently ripping it up at Real Madrid, and as a result, La Liga is very popular with England fans and the best football betting sites.

Serie A

Also known as the Scudetto, Serie A is the top flight of Italian football. The league is made up of 20 teams, playing 38 matches each. Serie A isn’t as strong as it was back in the 1980s and 1990s when it attracted the world’s top players such as Diego Maradona and Ruud Gullit.

Since the early 2000s, Juventus have been the dominant force. But in more recent times la Vecchia Signora (the Old Lady) has been challenged by the likes of Inter Milan, AC Milan and Napoli, leading to a more competitive championship.

Bundesliga

Germany’s top division, the Bundesliga differs slightly from the rest of Europe’s top leagues because it is an 18-team division. Less is more in the eyes of the Germans, and their teams only play 34 league matches a season.

The dominant force is Bayern Munich, who are now also the home club of England captain Harry Kane. The Bundesliga is also popular for emerging stars from the UK, attracting more viewers from these shores. This added home interest can result in more betting markets and offers from UK football betting sites.

Europa League

The easiest way to describe the Europa League is to call it the second tier of European football, behind the Champions League. It’s basically like comparing the Championship to the Premier League.

Plenty of Europe’s elite enter the competition though. Played on a Thursday night, it stands out on what is usually a quiet footballing night across the continent. This can result in plenty of betting options and special offers for football bettors.

Champions League

The Champions League is the crown jewel of European football. This is the competition all the top teams strive to win, and it attracts interest from across the globe. As the top competition in club football, it also attracts plenty of betting offers for football bettors.

Manchester City are the current champions. But it’s Spanish giants, Real Madrid, who are the most successful team in the history of the Cup. In total, Los Blancos have won the Champions League (formally known as the European Cup) on a staggering 14 occasions. Liverpool is the most successful English club with six wins.

⚽ Top most popular football betting markets

With the addition of Request a Bet and Bet Builder options, you can now bet on almost anything in a football match. But there are still some markets that remain tried and tested in the world of football betting. Here are some of the more popular ones.

Match result

The most basic football bet, and the one that most bettors will use if they are compiling an accumulator bet on several matches. The match result is a three-way choice bet on which team you believe will win, or if the match will be a draw.

Over/under goals

Over or under is a two-way bet on the amount of goals scored in the match. A spread is set by the football bookmaker, and you have to decide if it will be over or under.

The lowest market available is Over/Under 0.5 goals. The most popular market is Over/Under 2.5 goals. Under 2.5 is two goals or less. Over 2.5 is three goals or more. Using the .5 in the bet keeps it a two-way bet.

Both teams to score

This is a bet on whether both teams will score or not in a selected match. It is another old classic football bet that is also used for accumulators on a Saturday afternoon.

The football bookmaker offers odds on two simple outcomes. Will both teams score, yes or no? It sounds easy, but this is a far more difficult bet to get right than you would believe.

Correct score

Here, you bet on the exact scoreline of the match. Getting this bet right is very rewarding as the odds are usually higher in this market than in most.

First goalscorer

Another bet that does exactly what it says on the tin, this is simply a wager on who will be the first goalscorer in the match.

Different operators can apply slightly different rules in this market. For example, if an own goal is the first goal scored, or if your selection starts on the bench, the rules can vary from bookmaker to bookmaker. So always check the individual betting site’s terms and conditions first.

📝 Understanding UK football betting odds

In the UK, football betting odds are published in fractional or decimal form. Fractional odds would be 2/1, decimal odds would read 3.0.

If a £1 bet at 2/1 won, you would get back £3. That’s your £1 betting stake returned, along with your £2 in winnings. When these odds are presented in decimal form, they show you what you would get back if you put £1 on. So if you place a £1 bet at 3.0, you get back £3 if it wins.

The breakdown of the money you get returned is the same. It is just the presentation of the football betting odds format that reads differently. Football bookmakers offer you the chance to see the odds in your preferred format. Meaning you can choose which one suits you best.

Moving on from the odds format, different odds have different win probabilities. For example, a bet at even money means the football bookmakers are saying you have a 50% chance of winning. Whereas at odds of 1/2, the football betting site is saying you have a 66% chance of winning.

It is also extremely important to shop around for the best odds. Having multiple accounts is advised. This ensures you can always get the best odds available on the bet you are looking to place. Odds comparison sites can help you find the best odds for your bet. They can save you plenty of time as well. You can just look on the one site to see where the best odds are, rather than trawling through numerous different accounts.

How to place a bet on football

Every football bookmaker is different, but the fundamentals of placing a bet on football are the same no matter what. Below we have put together a step-by-step guide.

  1. Select a football betting site and open an account
  2. Deposit funds for your bet (remember, only bet what you can afford)
  3. Navigate your way through the site to the football section
  4. Find the league the team you wish to bet on plays in
  5. Select the match and your bet
  6. Click on the betting odds you wish to place your bet on
  7. Enter your bet amount
  8. Double-check your bet amount - you don’t want to gamble too much by accident
  9. When you’re happy with everything, click submit your bet

Using online bet calculators to improve your betting strategy

Online bet calculators are invaluable resources that every football bettor should utilize. These calculators allow you to analyze potential outcomes, assess odds, and manage your bets with precision. By incorporating them into your strategy, you can make better decisions, ensuring that you maximize your winnings while minimizing risks.

Whether you're an experienced punter or a novice, integrating online bet calculators into your routine can take your football betting experience to the next level.

💳 Football betting sites UK: Payment methods available

There are various payment methods available for UK bettors to deposit money into their online betting accounts.

Debit cards are one of the easiest, and although bank transfer is available, it can be time-consuming. E-wallets are a very popular and quick method these days as well. A selection of options can be found below:

💰 Football betting tips to win real money

With so many different football betting markets available in 2024, there are numerous ways you can bet to win real money. It’s not just a case of betting on Manchester City to beat Brentford on Saturday anymore. You can now bet on almost anything. Below, I have listed some of my best betting tips to win real money.

Analyse team form and player performance

It’s now easy to do homework and analyse the team or player you are looking to place a bet on. A team’s recent form is easy to find. And a lot of websites now have historical head-to-head records.

Another great site to check if you are betting on an individual player’s performance is the Opta Stats website. Here you will find every detail about that player’s performance in every match they have played this season. This could be fouls conceded, completed passes, or even shots on target.

Use the best betting sites for football

Another simple thing you can do is use the bookmakers that are best for betting on football. The chances are they will have the most competitive odds, and they may also have a good odds boost you can use on the game you wish to bet on.

Diversify betting strategies with different markets

You can now bet on loads of different outcomes in a match, so you can adjust your football betting strategy accordingly. As I just mentioned, this includes markets like how many fouls a player will commit, or how many shots on target a player will have.

On a selected match, these bets can be combined - along with the traditional bets of who will win the match - to create a Bet Builder. These bets offer different and diverse ways to gamble and win money. This could be a handy way to place a bet on your favourite team, that you already have additional knowledge about.

Remember to bet responsibly

No matter what it is you are betting on, one rule remains the same, and that is to always bet responsibly.

As the TV adverts say, never bet when angry, drunk, or if you are chasing losses. It rarely ends well and is a bad idea. Take a break if needed. And never gamble more than you can afford, or are prepared to lose.

🥇 My pick for the best football betting site in the UK

My current favourite UK football betting site is Spreadex. Why? Well for several reasons. First, I like sites where I can do more than just bet on fixed odds, and as a spread betting and fixed odds betting site, Spreadex offers me two options, as opposed to the usual one.

I also am currently enjoying betting on various alternative markets such as fouls committed, and shots on goal, and Spreadex is great for that. As a spread betting site, Spreadex specialises in these types of statistics-based bets, and that has now extended onto their fixed odds betting platform.

Spreadex is an easy site to navigate and offers a high level of customer service.  And, I also got a nice signup bonus when I joined.

Meet our football expert

It’s a well-known fact that if your job is your hobby, you should be happier in your work.

I’ve been following football now since I was a child, having started watching it in the 1980s. Since adulthood, I’ve also been a keen gambler, and I’ve now combined my love of football and betting, and taken it into my professional life.

In recent years, my work has involved writing about general sports betting. But I’m never happier in my job than when I'm writing about football and football betting.

Q&A’s about online football betting sites

1. Can I bet on football from my phone?

Yes, betting on football from your phone is possible and easy to do. As long as you have an account, it is possible to bet using either the football bookmaker’s online betting site or their mobile app. The same login should work for both.

2. Can I use multiple bookies to bet on football?

You most certainly can use multiple bookmakers to bet on football. And I would recommend you do. As mentioned earlier in this article, having multiple accounts allows you to shop around for the best betting odds for football.

It also gives you more options, as one football bookmaker might have special offers on a competition like the Champions League. While another might prefer to offer promotions on Premier League matches.

3. What types of football betting markets do bookmakers provide?

Football bookmakers now provide betting markets on almost anything in a football match. You can bet on the traditional betting markets such as match results and both teams to score. But you will also find upwards of 500 betting markets available to bet on in a Premier League match.

A lot of these additional markets are based on Opta statistics. As mentioned earlier, the Opta Stat-based bets are often used as part of Bet Builders. If they are put in a Bet Builder, you will need multiple selections to complete your bet. Bet Builders are harder to get right. But as they involve more than one bet, they pay well when you do land one.

4. Who is the best bookmaker for football live betting?

Any of the bookmakers listed on this page are great for live betting on football. But in general, the answer to this question will depend on what football it is you are betting on.

All of the football bookmakers listed here are great for major events like the Premier League and Champions League. But if you want to bet live on a more obscure match in another country, a different bookmaker might be more suitable.

5. Which football bookies have the cash-out option?

The majority of the football bookmakers on this page have great cash-out options. I prefer football betting sites that offer partial cash out. This allows you to cash out a portion of your winnings, and leave some more winnings to come if the original bet you placed goes onto win.

6. How can I get free bets for football?

Claiming free bets is easy, just visit our free bets page where you will find stacks of betting offers from our recommended football betting sites. These offers include free bets on horse racing as well as football.

Some of the best football betting sites listed here also offer bet credits to existing customers that serve the same purpose as a free bet. Some football betting sites also offer free casino spins and have daily free games you can take part in. Free bets are easy to find.

My opinion about football betting sites

There is plenty of information above to help you with your football betting, but here, I’ve put together my own thoughts about football betting sites and how to best use them.

Have multiple betting accounts

Make sure you maximise the new customer offers and make as much cash from them as possible. Also make sure you play the daily free games, and use any free casino spins that are on offer.

Be careful though, as some football betting sites don’t like you simply using the free offers, and they may withdraw them if that is all you use their site for. I do find it annoying when they withdraw these offers. But it is one of the pitfalls of online gambling. If you are spreading your betting across the various sites, it shouldn’t be a problem.

Do your homework and shop around

If you’ve followed my first tip and have various accounts, you are in a position to shop around to find the best odds for your bet. In general, odds don’t vary too much. Extracting every bit of extra value does help in the long run, but it can be time consuming. Using different football bookmakers also allows you to keep betting with various sites, which should help you stay on the right side of the bookmaker and not have any daily offers you might be using withdrawn.

It is also worth checking the different football betting sites for price boosts. These are more likely to be offered for high-profile football matches.

Final thoughts

The operators listed on this page are all reputable football betting sites, and many are household names who have been around for many years. They are safe to use and fully licensed to trade in the UK.

There are plenty of offers available above, so make the most of them. Follow our tips on this page to cash them in, and when you are betting on football, you can use these offers to get started.

Most importantly, stay safe online and only gamble what you can afford.
