I’m a beauty writer – the Drunk Elephant bronzing drops are a stunning summer must-have
YESTERDAY I was chatting to a colleague about the explosion of bronzing drops.
Suddenly, they're everywhere - beauty aisles are lined with bronzing drops, social media is littered with videos of shimmering swatches, and friends can't stop raving about their new favourite formula.

But where did it all begin? The answer is simple - Drunk Elephant.
The syrupy, shimmering Drunk Elephant D-Bronzi Drops first launched in 2018 and quickly shot to social-media fame thanks to the innovative formula.
Unlike the bronzing formulas we already knew and loved, these liquid shimmer drops can be mixed into moisturiser, daubbed onto cheekbones or swiped over clavicles for a quick and easy glow.

Uniquely, the Drunk Elephant D-Bronzi Drops formula is supercharged with skincare ingredients, such as barrier-boosting fatty acids and antioxidants which minimise the effects of pollution and environmental stressors.
Packaged into a miniature, squeezy tub (which made my colleagues and I squeal in delight upon opening), the D-Bronzi's dropper enables an easy and mess-free application - they really are foolproof.

That said, I felt rather overwhelmed when first using Drunk Elephant D-Bronzi Drops.
Do I apply it like bronzer? Or smother my face in the skin-loving formula for a healthy glow with a hit of skincare?

The options were far too plentiful.
So, I swatched the formula on my wrist and was surprised by the buttery-smooth texture.
Drunk Elephant D-Bronzi Drops have a stunning, warm hue with undertones of shimmering copper, and aren't overly sparkly or glittery, like so many other bronzers.
Eventually, I decided to dot the formula along my cheekbones with my fingers.
D-Bronzi Drops have a cooling, lightweight feel on the skin and can easily be blended with fingers, or a brush.
I'll always click with a formula when it sits on the skin well (no strange clumping, empty patches or fallout), and Drunk Elephant D-Bronzi Drops certainly tick the box.
Whilst they're not the most pigmented bronzing drops I've used, I don't mind, as they are so easily buildable, meaning you can dial the intensity up into your desired look.
They'd look great patted onto eyelids for a two-second, easy-as-pie eye look, and I love mixing the drops into my moisturiser for a quick, natural glow without faffing about with gradual tan.
The only downside is that you will need to top-up your look during the day, as their staying power isn't quite as powerful as I'd hope.
Save 20% off Drunk Elephant B-Goldi Bright Drops using code DRUNKFF
Whilst bronzing drops seem to be the product of the hour, Drunk Elephant D-Bronzi Drops' successor B-Goldi Bright Drops are also worth a mention.
These highlighter drops launched last year and were met with a similar reception to D-Bronzi Drops (instantly went viral, shoppers rushed to buy them, you get the picture).
Supercharged with 5% niacinamide and omega oils, they improve skin radiance and can reduce the appearance of imperfections.
That aside, their gorgeous, golden formula delivers just the right amount of shimmer to the skin, without looking overly glittery - which is my highlighter pet-peeve.
This is thanks to light-reflecting pigments, which provide dull skin with a radiant lift, without leaving you looking festival-ready.
Just like D-Bronzi Drops, they can strobed across cheekbones or mixed with your favourite day cream, and provide skin with a dewy, illuminating appearance.

Most liquid highlighters tend to be bulky or messy, but the easy-to-apply B-Goldi Bright Drops can be tossed into a handbag for a quick on-the-go skin pick-me-up.
The only downside to B-Goldi Bright and D-Bronzi Drops is that they're always selling out, thanks to its huge popularity and cult following.
